In retrospect, maybe we all should’ve paid a little more attention on April 2.
That day, former Patriot culture coach Jack Easterby, who didn’t renew his contract in New England after 2018 in the aftermath of Robert Kraft’s solicitation charges, was hired by the Texans as their executive vice president of team development—one team among a host of NFL options he had for ’19. It was also the day, evidently, that the wheels started spinning on what would go down late in the day last Friday.
Now that the Texans have fired GM Brian Gaine, who held the position for 17 months, Houston is head coach Bill O’Brien’s operation more than it’s ever been—interesting, given that’s exactly what was said when Gaine was hired from Buffalo two Januarys ago.
