San Francisco 49ers running back Eli Mitchell "is expected to miss some time" after suffering a knee injury in Sunday's 19-10 loss to the Chicago Bears, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport reported Mitchell is due to undergo an MRI that will reveal the full severity of the injury. He could be sidelined for a "few weeks (or more)."
It's the second straight year that Mitchell injured his knee in the season-opener. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said the speedster would undergo further testing Monday.
In his young NFL career, Mitchell is no stranger to injuries.
