11 of the most intriguing unsigned free agents

Christmas morning for shrewd clubs, as Hankins, Charles, other cheap, yet enticing, options remain

The NFL's second-leading active sack artist, Dwight Freeney is unsigned and certainly deserves a spot on this list. Yet we're leading with him namely as a reminder of the impact even late-summer, much less late-March, signings can have on clubs. Freeney signed with the NFC champion Falcons last August, and the 37-year-old followed up a productive regular season — three sacks, 10 QB hits — with three more postseason hurries, plus a sack in the Super Bowl. Other later-free agency signings who made plays all the way into January: Jared Cook and Anquan Boldin.
