We're in the middle of the second week of the NFL preseason, and as such, teams are starting to make their final preparations for the start of the regular season. However, injuries and their impact are taking over headlines and causing teams to make some new signings. Here are the latest NFL rumors and news you need to know:
Seahawks lose starting LT George Fant for season
Seattle Seahawks left tackle George Fant suffered a torn ACL in the team's win over the Minnesota Vikings on Friday night, and head coach Pete Carroll said the injury will cause Fant to miss the rest of the season.
"I'm really broken-hearted about George Fant getting hurt," Carroll said. "Just unfortunate. He's done so much and come so far."
Fant tweeting the following after the diagnosis.
Thank you all for your support I'm in good hands.

Second-year player Rees Odhiambo is currently slated to take over the left tackle spot for Fant but left guard Luke Joeckel could be another option.
Dolphins sign Rey Maualuga to replace Raekwon McMillan
The Miami Dolphins lost second-round pick and projected starting linebacker Raekwon McMillan for the season to a torn ACL in their preseason opener last weekend. To replace him, they have signed veteran Rey Maualuga, according to multiple reports.
The two sides agreed to a one-year, $900,000 deal.
Maualuga spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals, but saw his role decrease significantly last year. He recorded 27 tackles with an interception in 14 games.

Ryan Shazier returns to field for Steelers
Star Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier returned to practice on Friday after missing two weeks with a hamstring injury.
“I was telling the guys on the sideline that I was so thankful to be back in the mix,” Shazier said. “It was great to be back out there, running around and seeing football from the inside of my helmet instead of from the sideline.
“I missed a lot of reps in camp this year, so I’m trying to do everything I can to improve. I haven’t tackled anybody in camp, so you have to get used to tackling people and the feel of getting banged up and getting in the grind with everybody.”
Shazier hasn't played more than 13 games in any of his three career seasons in the NFL, but said he doesn't expect this injury to be one that lingers and affects him during the season. He recorded 87 tackles with three forced fumbles and three interceptions last year.
