The NFL trade deadline is less than one week away on Nov. 1 at 4:00 pm ET, and as a result, the trade rumors are swirling around the league. Several of the league's worst teams are looking to unload veterans for draft picks, while contending teams are looking for the missing piece that could be the difference for them in the playoffs. Here are all the latest NFL trade news and rumors:
Two teams interested in Joe Thomas
Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson said that the team will not trade All-Pro offensive tackle Joe Thomas before the deadline, but according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, there is still the possibility it could happen - and two teams have expressed interest:
With the trade deadline four days away, a couple of teams are sniffing around the possibility of trading for Browns tackle Joe Thomas.
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, two teams have been exploring the potential move. However, there is no indication that a trade will be finalized, or even that tangible trade talks will happen between now and 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
It’s unclear which teams are exploring a possible run at Thomas. PFT reported over the weekend that the Giants, Seahawks, Cardinals, and Vikings each have some degree of interest, with the Patriots interested only if the Browns slide into fire-sale mode and are willing to essentially give him away.
The Browns, per a source with knowledge of the situation, want a second-round pick for Thomas.
Thomas has made the Pro Bowl in each of his first nine seasons in the league, and is a six-time 1st-team All-Pro. He has started in all 144 games of his career.
Chiefs to trade for Brandon Marshall?
With the New York Jets going nowhere this season after a slow start, there are rumors that they may be interested in trading away wide receiver Brandon Marshall. If that's the case, Sports Illustrated's Andrew Vailliencourt reports the Chiefs are interested:
The veteran wide receiver is stuck in a tough spot in New York. The Jets aren't going to the playoffs, and quarterback play has been so bad that his production has dropped significantly. It would make sense for the Jets to trade him away, and the Kansas City Chiefs seem to be the most talked about destination.
Marshall has 30 catches for 472 yards and two touchdowns this season.
Bucs also looking for wide receiver
The Chiefs aren't the only team looking to add a wide receiver. According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are also looking to add a wideout before the deadline:
Tampa Bay making a push to land a vet WR, sources said. Willing to move a pick and/or CB J. Banks or A. Verner for the right guy...
— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) October 26, 2016
Tampa may have lost Vincent Jackson for the season with a knee injury, and they're now lacking depth with Mike Evans as their only proven receiver.
