The second week of the NFL preseason is kicking off with three games tonight, and as such, teams are starting to make their final preparations for the start of the regular season. Last week was dominated by the Ezekiel Elliott suspension, and he is now formally filed an appeal, which is bringing more information to light about his alleged domestic violence incident. Here are the latest NFL rumors and news you need to know:
Latest on Teddy Bridgewater's recovery timeline
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is back doing on-field drills - without a knee brace - as he continues to recover from a knee injury that caused him to miss all of last season, but the team still doesn't have a timeline on a possible return.
"I really couldn't tell you. I'm hopeful that he is," Zimmer told NFL.com's Tom Pelissero. "The kid's working his rear end off. But I don't know if it's three weeks from now or a year from now. He has to finish this last little jump that he's got to go. I've asked the same question you have to the trainers, to doctors -- it's really the same answer. No one is for sure.
"It's being able to play the game athletically," Zimmer said. "I'm sure if we were throwing 7-on-7, he could do it all day long. But it's not playing the game. So ... the doctors and the medical people are not going to put him on the field until he can be able to go out there, protect himself and do all the things that he needs to do."
Bridgewater is expected to start the season on the physically unable to perform list, but appears to be on track to be activated at some point this season.
Minnesota traded for Sam Bradford in order to replace Bridgewater, and there is no guarantee he will get his starting job back from Bradford whenever he is cleared to play.
In 2015, the Miami native passed for 3,231 yards with 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Ravens may be interested in signing Ryan Mathews
The Philadelphia Eagles released running back Ryan Mathews on Tuesday morning, making him the best running back currently available on the open market. Even though we're already approaching the midway point of the preseason, he figures to generate plenty of interest around league among teams who still need help in the backfield.
One team who could be interested? The Baltimore Ravens.
Ravens coaches have a lot of respect for Mathews. RB is not team's biggest need by any means, but wouldn't rule this one out. https://t.co/MNeCSFC2VI

Baltimore currently has one of the worst running back rotations in the league. Terrance West is currently projected to be the starter with Danny Woodhead and Javorius Allen serving as his backups, but the trio combined for less than 900 yards last season.
Mathews rushed for 661 yards and eight touchdowns on just 155 carries for Philadelphia in 2016, while catching 14 passes for 115 yards and another score.

Reuben Foster suffers another shoulder injury
A shoulder injury that required surgery caused San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster to fall to the end of the first round of the draft, and now, he is dealing with another shoulder injury.
#49ers say Reuben Foster has mild AC joint sprain, which is a different condition than the shoulder condition that was surgically repaired.

However, general manager John Lynch doesn't anticipate there being any lingering problems from this latest injury.
“I talked to him and like Reuben, big smile, said, ‘I’m straight.’ And, so he’s good. He’s straight,” Lynch said.
Foster had 115 tackles with 13 tackles for loss and five sacks for Alabama last season.
