Week 3 of the NFL preseason wrapped up on Sunday night, and teams are making their first round of cuts to trim their 90-man rosters down to 75 ahead of Tuesday's deadline. Because of that, there is plenty of buzz circulating around the league. Check out the latest NFL news and rumors below.
Broncos to cut Sanchez?
Broncos quarterback Mark Sanchez didn't play at all in the team's third preseason game, and after the team named Trevor Siemian as the starter, it seems to be a foregone conclusion that the team will release Sanchez either today or tomorrow.
Once the Broncos cut Sanchez (could happen tomorrow), they'll scour the wire to bring in another QB.

Broncos' QB Mark Sanchez didn't play at all tonight. If Broncos decide not to keep him, they save $4.5 million and a 7th-round pick.

Denver acquired Sanchez from the Eagles in March, sending a conditional draft pick to Philly.
The Broncos are expected to bring in T.J. Yates as that other QB Lombardi mentions, who played under head coach Gary Kubiak with the Houston Texans. First-round pick Paxton Lynch is serving as the backup for now.
Jets looking to trade Smith, Petty
The New York Jets have a close competition for backup quarterback going on in camp, as both Geno Smith and Bryce Petty are battling to be the No. 2 guy behind Ryan Fitzpatrick on the depth chart. However, after drafting Christian Hackenberg this past year - and not wanting to keep four quarterbacks on the roster - the Jets are looking to trade either Smith or Petty, reports Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News:
Smith is viewed in a much more favorable light around the league than he is by the green-and-white diehards, who seem hell bent on getting him out of town before the Sept. 11 season opener.
There is soft interest around the league in Smith. The Jets have fielded inquiries from teams monitoring their surplus at several positions, including quarterback. It’s a routine part of the process before final cuts next week.

Smith appeared in just one game last season, passing for 265 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Petty did not play in a single game last year as a rookie after being drafted in the fourth round.
49ers to cut Kaepernick?
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick made headlines over the weekend for sitting during the national anthem, and while that has created a controversy, the team has supported his ability to protest.
However, Kaepernick might not be with the 49ers much longer. According to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, San Francisco may cut him - but it has nothing to do with his flag stance.
“Regardless of politics or not, he has a very, very big uphill battle to make this team,” Glazer said. “I’d be shocked if he’s on the 49ers by the time this season ends. It has nothing to do with political views whatsoever.
“He lost a ton of weight this offseason, had three surgeries, couldn’t work out, lost that double threat, that size-speed ratio. No political views, he just hasn’t been effective. He’s regressing as a player. I’d be shocked if he’s on this roster by the end of this year. He may not be on it in the next two weeks.”
Kaepernick passed for 1,615 yards and six touchdowns with five interceptions in nine games as the starter last season before losing his starting job to Gabbert.
