NFL Rumors: Bears Could Start Trubisky, Buccaneers May Cut Martin By Monday & More

Week 4 of the NFL season kicked off with the Green Bay Packers earning a 35-14 blowout win over the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football. 14 more games will be played on Sunday, starting with the New Orleans Saints facing the Miami Dolphins in the league's second straight game in London. Here is all the latest news and rumors from around the league today's NFL Rumors Roundup:

Bears could start Mitchell Trubisky in Week 5
Mike Glennon has started every game at quarterback for the Bears this season, but after he turned the ball over four times against the Packers, head coach John Fox said the team will "evaluate everything" ahead of their Week 5 showdown against the Minnesota Vikings.

Free agent wideout Victor Cruz, who played for the Bears in the preseason, told Good Morning Football Weekend on NFL Network that he thinks rookie Mitchell Trubisky will start over Glennon in that game.

"I do think that if there's any week for Mitch Trubisky to make his start, to make his debut this season, I think it's this one," Cruz said. "I think they have some holes that they need to fill, especially at the quarterback position. It just hasn't been flowing as well as they would hope early on. I think Mitch has a shot, man.

"Anytime a young guy gets his first start, there's no easy game to put him into. There's always going to be those jitters. There's always going to be that week of preparation that has to get through and everybody's good in the league, so you've got to make sure that he's ready to go. If this is the week, I think it happens now. "

Trubisky passed for 364 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions during the preseason.

Ty Montgomery's injury not as bad as previously thought
Montgomery left Green Bay's win over Chicago after just one play with a rib injury and the team feared it would cause him to miss a significant amount of time. However, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the injury is not as serious as previously thought and Montgomery should be able to play next weekend against the Dallas Cowboys.

Montgomery has rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns on 46 carries this season. He has also caught 18 passes for 129 yards and another score.

Buccanneers may cut Doug Martin before Monday
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin is slated to return from his four-game PED suspension on Monday (he served one game last season), but there is a chance that he won't be back with the team.

Despite being just one season into the five-year, $35.75 million deal he signed with the Bucs in 2016, Tampa Bay can save all that money by releasing him since the suspension wiped out his guaranteed money.

When speaking to JoeBucsFan.com about Martin's future with the team, head coach Dirk Koetter did not guarantee they would keep Martin around.

“Well, to be honest with you, I’m worried about Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and when Monday comes, we’ll worry about Monday,” Koetter said. “Because every Monday, or every day after a game, [GM] Jason [Licht] and I get together and, you know, Jason’s got his ideas on what roster changes have to go. There is that possibility for next week. And, you know, if we are going to bring Doug back on Monday, then we’re going to have to make room somehow. And that could be dictated by injury this week, so that’s why, you know, we’ll worry about it on Monday.”

Martin rushed for 421 yards and three touchdowns on 144 carries in eight games last season.
