We are getting ready to start Week 2 of the NFL season which means the first week of Chat Sports NFL MVP Power Rankings. The MVP list is based on Week 1 performances but also the players who I think are the most likely to win the award. Just because Alex Smith had a great week that doesn't mean he is number one on my board. I will not overreact to one good game.
10. Le'Veon Bell
Running Back | Pittsburgh Steelers
Bell didn't play well Week 1 against the Browns but I think he is hands down the most versatile running back in the NFL. Any player who can average 157 total yards from scrimmage in a year should at least be in the top 10 for NFL MVP.
9. Ben Roethlisberger
Quarterback | Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers offense only scored three touchdowns against the Browns but Roethlisberger is much better at home and I expect him to put up great numbers this season. The Steelers offense is dynamic and the leader of that offense is Roethlisberger. If he can stay healthy this season he should have a great season.
8. Ezekiel Elliott
Running Back | Dallas Cowboys
Elliott saw 29 touches in Week 1 and will be the focal point of that offense. He is the most important part of that offense, without him they are not a playoff team. When a player makes that big of an impact on a team he deserves to be in the top 10.
7. LeSean McCoy
Running Back | Buffalo Bills
The most important player to his team that isn't a quarterback is McCoy. The Bills should change their name to the Buffalo McCoy's because of how much they will use him this season. The BIlls are (1-0) and the reason was McCoy threw the team on his shoulders and carried them to a win. Hopefully, he can play all 16 games.
6. Alex Smith
Quarterback | Kansas City Chiefs
I thought about putting Smith in my top five but I just couldn't do it. He had a great game passing for 368 yards and four touchdowns against the Patriots. That performance deserves to be recognized but I have seen 12 years of Alex Smith to know that he doesn't have a chance to be NFL MVP. He is the least likely to win NFL MVP on this list.

5. Matthew Stafford
Quarterback | Detroit Lions
Stafford was just paid a lot of money and that narrative could lead to an MVP. Stafford led the NFL fourth quarter comebacks last season and brought the Lions back against the Cardinals in Week 1. He also had four touchdowns which help his case to be in the top five.
4. Derek Carr
Quarterback | Oakland Raiders
The Raiders missed Carr at the end of the season and I was very surprised to see how bad they were without him. If the Raiders win the AFC West which is the best division in football he has a chance to be NFL MVP.
3. Matt Ryan
Quarterback | Atlanta Falcons
Last seasons NFL MVP is in my top three. I have been saying all season that his numbers will regress and the Falcons didn't look quite as good in Week 1. I want to see him perform in a big matchup against the guy who is number one on this list.
2. Tom Brady
Quarterback | New England Patriots
I can see why people would be upset with this one. I get it believe me but it''s only one bad week from Brady. He will bounce back just fine against the Saints in Week 2 and nobody will give me crap for having him as number two in my power rankings.
1. Aaron Rodgers
Quarterback | Green Bay Packers
The best quarterback in the NFL is number one. Rodgers didn't play great in Week 1 but that's because he played the best defense in football. The Packers will battle the Falcons on Sunday Night and I expect the Packers to win that game. Rodger made a strong case to win MVP last season and I truly believe this will be the year he wins it.
Yeah, my top six is all quarterbacks. The last three four MVP have been quarterbacks and nine of the last 10 MVP winners have been quarterbacks. It's a quarterback driven league. Adrian Peterson was the last non-quarterback to win the MVP in 2012.
