NFL teams have started OTAs, as most of the non-rookies are finally back at practice. While free agency is largely quiet, there is still plenty buzz around the league. There are a few big name free agents still on the market, although they might not stay unsigned for much longer. Here are the latest and greatest of NFL rumors and news around the league.
Fitzpatrick and Jets Still At An Impasse
The New York Jets and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick have yet to work out a new contract. There have been several developments in the last day, and here's everything we know. According to the Gary Myers of New York Daily News, Fitzpatrick is willing to take a one-year, $12 million deal with the Jets. That contract matches the first year of the three-year, $24 million deal the Jets have offered Fitzpatrick. However, the Jets won't agree to that deal with Fitzpatrick, per Manish Mehta and other reports. In fact, Mehta told Pro Football Talk the Jets could be getting closer to simply moving on from Fitzpatrick. That would leave the Jets with Geno Smith, Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg at QB.
Bears Won't Extend Jeffery?
The Chicago Bears placed the franchise tag on WR Alshon Jeffery this offseason and have until July 15th to work out a long-term deal. However, don't expect that to happen. Jason Cole of Bleacher Report says the Bears won't get a long-term deal done with Jeffery. Chicago wants to see more from Jeffery, especially after his injury plagued season last year. Jeffery likely wants a deal in the range of what Dez Bryant, Demaryius Thomas and A.J. Green received last year. If he has a strong season, Jeffery will likely get that type of deal next offseason.

The former No. 1 overall pick has battled injuries in recent years and is looking for another shot at a comeback. He has no relation to starting Bears guard Kyle Long.
Why Hasn't Anquan Boldin Signed?
Anquan Boldin led the 49ers in receiving last year, but has yet to find a new home. Albert Breer of SI.com knows why.
Texted a pro scouting director. Answer: "He's old and can't run." Also, teams wanna get young guys reps in spring. https://t.co/lhr6p4Jsua

Boldin will turn 36 this season, and his age is surely working against him. While he was solid last year for the 49ers, it seems NFL teams prefer young, fast players to old, slow ones.
