The vast majority of the Week 5 games are over, and I'm here to recap what happened in the world of fantasy football. I'm not going to list everyone's individual stats. That's something you probably already know or can easily look up. Instead, I'm going to go bullet point style on what the games mean for your team going forward. So, here's everything you need to know from Week 5's action.
Buffalo Bills 14, Tennessee Titans 13
Bills QB Tyrod Taylor can get you some mini-Cam Newton numbers if you're looking for a dual-threat QB to double your pleasure. Taylor passed for just 109 yards but he added 76 on the ground and scored a touchdown both ways for a solid performance.
Don't buy into any of Tennessee's running backs. This is for all you Bishop Sankey believers out there -- Sankey has just 29 carries for 126 yards and one TD in five games. He's not a sleeper. He's asleep.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 38, Jacksonville Jaguars 31
Doug Martin was a fantasy STUD on Sunday, rushing for 123 yards and three touchdowns. His fantasy value has swung wildly over the years, but he's a major keeper right now with TB breaking in Jameis Winston.
Blake Bortles dropped 28 points in standard leagues in a 303-yard, 4-TD explosion. If you're stashing QBs in a ten-team league and he's available...
Cleveland Browns 33, Baltimore Ravens 30
Don't buy stock in Josh McCown just yet. His 457-yard, two-touchdown day is an anomaly until proven otherwise.
Justin Forsett remains a steady RB2 play, or low RB1 in PPR. His 170 yards and four catches netted PPR owners 21 points on Sunday.
Atlanta Falcons 25, Washington Redskins 19
We're not sure what to make of Matt Ryan. The Falcons offense is humming, but he's only averaging 1.2 TDs per game right now. Atlanta has so many weapons, but Ryan could very well be a sell-high candidate.
Redskins RBs remain boom/bust plays at best. Rookie RB Matt Jones has been a fantasy darling this year, but that will be tempered after a 11-carry, 20-yard day against a merely okay Atlanta D.
Chicago Bears 18, Kansas City Chiefs 17
Don't look now, but Bears WR Marquess Wilson is getting major targets. Wilson was targeted nine times over the first three games of the season. He's been targeted 17 times over the last two, hauling in 12 for 165 yards and a score.
Jamaal Charles is feared to have a torn ACL after a gruesome non-contact injury in this one. The fantasy impact of this is obvious for an RB that went #1 overall in a plethora of leagues.
Philadelphia Eagles 39, New Orleans Saints 17
Demarco Murray was a PPR beast on Sunday, catching seven balls while rushing for 83 yards and a score. We're still selling high on him, though.
WR Brandin Cooks rewarded fantasy owners' patience on Sunday with a 107-yard, 1 TD effort. It was Cook's first 100-yard performance of the season.
Green Bay Packers 24, St. Louis Rams 10
Time to sell on Eddie Lacy. The Packers lead RB has touched 90 yards just once this year with one TD and has zero PPR value. You can surely convince someone to give you 1 1/2 times value based on name alone.
If you started Nick Foles because of a bye this week, sorry. His four interceptions on the day cost you severely and makes us wonder about him even as a stash candidate.
Cincinnati Bengals 27, Seattle Seahawks 24
Andy Dalton continues his ascent to QB1 status. He threw for 331 yards, two touchdowns with a pick in another breakthrough performance.
Russell Wilson's value as a QB always hinges on just how the traditional running game fares. Rookie Thomas Rawls' 169-yard, 1-TD masterpiece eliminated the need for Seattle to use him liberally on the ground. When that happens, he's a bust.
Arizona Cardinals 42, Detroit Lions 17
Andre Ellington's return came with a BANG, as he hit a jackpot on one of his three carries with a 63-yard TD. He's still a sketchy FLEX play unless we start to see a pronounced drop in Chris Johnson's carries.
Don't buy on any Lions running backs, even Ameer Abdullah. Trust us. Just don't.
New England Patriots 30, Dallas Cowboys 6
Tom Brady continues to reap rewards for those who drafted him "too high," turning in a ho hum 275-yard, 2-TD (with 0 INT) performance in the Patriots' rout.
Joseph Randle netted just six points with 60 yards on 15 carries. He's a boom/bust play, especially with teams stacking the box since Brandon Weeden can't figure out the deep ball.
Denver Broncos 16, Oakland Raiders 10
Don't sell on Demaryius Thomas, regardless of Denver's offensive struggles. He posted 5 catches for 55 yards (eight targets) on Sunday and always has tremendous upside as a starting play.
Latavius Murray remains a sketchy RB2/RB3 based on week-to-week matchups. He struggled against the Broncos' stout front seven, amassing 57 total yards (39 on the ground) and no TDs.
