The St. Louis Rams have just drafted Missouri defensive end Michael Sam in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft, making him the first openly gay player in NFL history.
Sam was projected as either a late-round pick or an undrafted free agent, mostly due to several analysts and scouts' projections that he won't be able to evolve into an every-down player in the NFL.
