The Baltimore Ravens have officially cut running back Ray Rice.
TMZ released a video Monday morning showing Rice knocking out his wife in an Atlantic City elevator. There were immediate calls for the Ravens to release the player, with Dan Wetzel of Yahoo! Sports reporting that several teams thought Baltimore had no choice but to let him go.
According to Wetzel, one factor in the release was Rice's version of events not matching up with the video:
The Ravens have cut Ray Rice. Told one factor was his version of what happened didn't match with video.

There's still no word on whether Rice's two-game suspension will be extended, but it seems likely the NFL will take additional action based on the information coming out of Baltimore. If Rice lied to team and league officials, the entire complexion of the case changes changes dramatically.
