5 Players Whose Stock Skyrocketed At The NFL Draft Combine

The 2018 NFL Combine ends today, and it has been one of the most exciting combines in recent memory. The hype surrounding the quarterbacks has been off the charts with four of them potentially going in the top 10 of the 2018 NFL Draft. After an amazing performance by Penn State running back Saquon Barkley at the combine, it's been rumored he may even go first overall in the NFL Draft. But which players impacted their draft stock the most from a solid performance from the combine? Here are five players whose stock skyrocketed at the NFL Draft Combine.

1.) Nick Chubb, RB, Georgia

If there is a running back who shined at the combine not named Saquon Barkley, it's Nick Chubb. The Georgia running back measured in at 5-foot-11, weighing 227 pounds. He ran a 4.52 forty time, did 29 reps on the bench press, had a 38.5 in vertical, a 128-inch broad jump, a 7.09 three-cone drill, and a 4.25 shuttle. Chubb's NFL Draft stock is starting to skyrocket.

2.) Shaquem Griffin, LB, UCF

Shaquem Griffin, who has no left hand, is one of the best stories of this year's NFL Draft and blew up the NFL Combine with his performance. Griffin ran the fastest 40-yard dash time by a linebacker in NFL combine history. Teams will shoot him up their draft boards after an impressive showing at the combine.

3.) Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Virginia Tech

Before the NFL combine, Edmunds NFL Draft stock was rising due to athletic ability plus his size and speed. Measuring at 6-foot-5, weighing 253 pounds, Edmunds ran a 4.54-second 40-yard dash. His lateral quickness is like a defensive back. He may sneak into the top 10 in the NFL Draft.  Edmunds led the Hokies with 109 tackles, adding 5.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles this past season.

4.) Da'Ron Payne, DT, Alabama Crimson Tide

Payne is 6-foot-2, 311-pounds and the run stuffer from Alabama ran a 4.95-second 40-yard dash, while also pumping out 27 reps on the bench press. A concern before the draft was his lateral movement and Payne was surprisingly agile in bag drills and positional workouts. Payne will be able to step into most NFL teams and be a force in the trenches.

5.) Mike Gesicki, TE, Penn State

Maybe I am a sucker for tight ends who have a basketball background, but Mike Gesicki had an incredible combine. The 6-foot-6, 247-pound tight end ran 4.54 40-yard dash with a 41.5 inch vertical and a 10-foot-9 broad jump. Think about this, Gesicki jumps better than Odell Beckham Jr., he is taller than Calvin Johnson, and faster than Antonio Brown. This combine hype is pushing him up team's big boards.
