Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko has been allowed to leave the France squad, with Tottenham hoping to sign him.
The France team's Twitter account said Sissoko had left their training camp to finalise a transfer.
Spurs are thought to have bid around £25m for the 27-year-old but the Magpies, who were relegated to the Championship last season, want £30m.
It is understood Newcastle do not want to sell the player who impressed in helping France to the Euro 2016 final.
Sissoko has stated his desire to leave St James' Park following their relegation from the Premier League last season.
