Premier League chief executive Richard Masters admits they are 'completely aware' of court documents describing the Saudi Public Investment Fund as a sovereign body, amid growing calls to probe Newcastle United's takeover.
The Premier League approved Newcastle's £305m takeover in 2021, with the PIF becoming 80 per cent shareholders in the club.
Approval was granted after the Premier League said it had received assurances Newcastle would not be under the control of the Saudi state.
However, a brief filed in a court case involving the PGA Tour and LIV Golf has described the PIF as 'a sovereign instrumentality of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia'.
