Swapping Arsenal for Newcastle would give Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the perfect chance to prove the Gunners have made the wrong choice by dropping him, according to Trevor Sinclair.
The Gabon international was stripped of the captaincy last month for what the club described as his 'latest disciplinary breach' after he returned late from a trip to France to visit his sick mum.
The 32-year-old was subsequently banished from first team training and has missed Arsenal's last five games in all competitions.
The Gunners could listen to offers for the former Borussia Dortmund striker during the January transfer window and Newcastle are understood to be among the clubs keeping tabs on Aubameyang.
