Newcastle midfielder Joe Willock revealed he had been subjected to racist abuse online after his side were beaten by Fulham on Saturday.
Jacob Murphy gave the Magpies a first-half lead at St James' Park, but Marco Silva's side drew level after the interval.
Just after the hour mark Willock came on to replace Joelinton in midfield, and missed a chance to restore Newcastle's lead after failing to connect with a cross from Alexander Isak shortly after being introduced.
The visitors would ultimately secure all three points after Rodrigo Muniz netted in the closing stages to complete the Cottagers' comeback.
