Newcastle United women will become a fully professional team from next season in a landmark moment for the club.
The Magpies, who were promoted in May, will be the first full-time side in the third tier since it was re-branded as the FA Women’s National League.
The club says players will receive ‘competitive salaries’ and will have access to professional equipment, treatment and injury-prevention facilities.
The average salary in the Women’s Super League was thought to be around £30,000 a year before last summer’s European Championship, while the most valuable players can earn over £200,000.
