Newcastle assistant head coach Jason Tindall says Alexander Isak "has a chance" of facing Luton despite coming off with a groin issue in midweek.
Boss Eddie Howe missed Friday's pre-match briefing because of illness but Tindall expects him to be on the touchline on Saturday.
Harvey Barnes, Callum Wilson and Joe Willock will be assessed as they near returns from lay-offs.
Luton welcome back Teden Mengi and Jacob Brown from injury.
Issa Kabore is also available following Burkina Faso's elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations.
New signing Daiki Hashioka will travel to Tyneside but is unlikely to feature so soon after joining.
