Newcastle United will again be without centre-half Ciaran Clark and full-back DeAndre Yedlin, with a knock and thigh injury respectively for Burton's visit.
Striker Daryl Murphy is fit and was back in training last week but was not involved in Saturday's win over Wigan.
Lewis Akins, John Brayford, Kyle McFadzean and Tom Flanagan are all doubts for Burton.
Akins' knock was picked up in training while the other three carry concerns from Saturday's win at Huddersfield.
