Newcastle United 1-2 Huddersfield Town: Jack Payne's late winner puts Terriers top and condemns Magpies to second straight loss to open the season

Rafa Benitez's poor start as Newcastle manager continued on Saturday as the Magpies fell 2-1 at home to Huddersfield.

Huddersfield Jack Payne decided the match four minutes from time with a shot that went in at the bottom left corner.

Nahki Wells had put the Terriers in front in the dying seconds of the first half when he re-directed Rajiv van La Parra's low cross into the bottom left corner with his left boot.

Newcastle evened the match on the hour mark through a Dwight Gayle header just after the striker had missed a penalty.
