Bruno Guimaraes has reached a verbal agreement with Newcastle over a new long-term contract.
Mail Sport can confirm that the deal, which is yet to be signed, includes a release clause in excess of £100million. Newcastle will feel that protects them against an offer below their valuation of the midfielder.
The Brazil international's current contract runs until the summer of 2026 but, after making a significant impact since joining from Lyon for £36m in January 2022, he wanted to be rewarded with improved terms. His new agreement includes a pay rise and expires in 2028.
Guimaraes has played 63 times for the Magpies and has scored 10 goals, providing six assists.
