Newcastle United are keen to launch a £15 million bid for Benfica midfielder Rafa Silva but have put the move on hold as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Silva has caught the eye in 21 appearances for the club this term but is ready to leave the Portuguese champions and embark on a new challenge.
Benfica initially valued Silva at £25m but Newcastle are only willing to bid up to £15m providing their budget isn't wiped out by the current global health crisis.
The Magpies were one of the first clubs to furlough non-playing staff after the Premier League season was suspended to limit the damage on the club's finances.
