Newcastle in talks with Al-Ahli over £30m sale of Allan Saint-Maximin as Eddie Howe insists they've been 'forced' to sell to make room for Leicester winger Harvey Barnes amid FFP restrictions

Newcastle are in talks with Saudi club Al Ahli over the sale of winger Allan Saint-Maximin, with boss Eddie Howe admitting that Financial Fair Play has ‘forced’ his likely departure.

The 26-year-old did not travel with the squad for Tuesday night’s 2-1 win at Rangers, as discussions continue over a deal that the Magpies hope will be worth up to £30million.

Howe says he does not want to lose Saint-Maximin but accepts that, for new signings to arrive, he must sacrifice some current stars.

Newcastle remain in talks over a £35m deal for Harvey Barnes and, should Saint-Maximin’s move be agreed, the Leicester wideman could join them on their pre-season tour of the United States.
