Newcastle are in advanced talks to sign goalkeeper Nick Pope from Burnley following the Clarets' relegation to the Championship.
Sportsmail reported last week that the Magpies were a exploring a deal for the 30-year-old as they seek quality competition for Martin Dubravka.
Pope, who has one year left on his contract at Turf Moor, has had interest from a number of clubs but a move to Newcastle appeals.
The 6ft 6in shot-stopper is currently third choice in the England squad behind Jordan Pickford and Aaron Ramsdale and will know that he has more chance of staying in Gareth Southgate's thoughts ahead of the World Cup in the winter if he remains in the Premier League.
