Rafa Benitez says he will not sell anyone currently playing in Newcastle United’ s first-team and admits he has still not been told what his transfer budget will be this month.
Relegation rivals West Ham have an interest in Jonjo Shelvey, but the Magpies boss has ruled out letting any player go who has a part to play on the pitch.
And that stance has been hardened by the delay in owner Mike Ashley telling him how much money has to spend of new players.
‘We cannot sell players that are playing because we would have to replace them for better players and, in January, we would need a lot of money to convince players to come here, that is almost impossible in January,’ said Benitez.
