Newcastle have had a bid accepted for Lille defender Sven Botman.
According to Sky Sports News, the total fee for the deal including add-ons is set to be £39million.
However, Newcastle still need to agree personal terms with the 22-year-old.
Newcastle, backed by their wealthy owners, have already signed goalkeeper Nick Pope, while defender Matt Targett made his loan from Asgton Villa permanent.
AC Milan were also interested in signing Botman but Newcastle now look to have won the race for his services.
A Holland Under-21 international, Botman is very highly rated and could add more defensive stability to a Newcastle side that conceded 62 goals in the Premier League last season.
