Newcastle 'eye former Monaco and Lille chief Luis Campos for sporting director role' as super-rich Saudi owners get set to splash the cash

Newcastle United are reportedly eyeing up Luis Campos for their new sporting director role as the club's mega-rich Saudi owners plot their route to the top of world football.

Toon fans are celebrating the exit of former owner Mike Ashley, with the club now being controlled by a Saudi consortium - and there is the prospect of spending big in a bid to compete with the top sides in Europe.

Sky Sports report that one of the first big moves they want to make is to bring in Campos as sporting director, following his impressive spells in France with both Monaco and Lille.
