Newcastle have asked about Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana.
The skilful Ghana international is regarded as one of the brightest prospects playing in Europe and has had interest from the likes of Bayer Leverkusen and Ajax.
Rennes paid £17m to sign the 20-year-old from Nordsjaelland last year and he is now valued around £30m.
Simply known as Kamaldeen, the 20-year-old scored four goals in ten Ligue 1 matches last season, as well as three appearances in the Europa Conference.
Newcastle had considered Leeds United's Jack Harrison but were put off by his £35m valuation so what Rennes want up front for Kamaldeen will be key to any deal progressing.
