Jamaal Lascelles has long been a Newcastle United fan favourite for his captaincy and leadership.
Wearing the armband, as the central defender has done at St James’ Park since 2016, often involves delivering home truths that have brought him into conflict with team-mates.
There have also been occasions where Lascelles, as leader of the group, has needed to step in to defuse heated situations.
But while Lascelles, 29, tries to enjoy a low-key private life, trouble does tend to follow him around.
That was certainly the case when Lascelles was involved in a 4am city-centre brawl in Newcastle following the team's 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on August 19.
