Newcastle striker Callum Wilson has had chest surgery and could miss much of the rest of the season.
The England international, 31, suffered the injury in the 3-2 Premier League win at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
He has scored eight goals in 22 games in all competitions for Newcastle this season, but has been hampered by hamstring and calf injuries.
"It is no doubt a big blow for him," said Newcastle manager Eddie Howe.
"It's been a stop-start season for him. We hope he's back before the end of the season."
Wilson continued to play against Forest after suffering the injury, but used his shirt to make a sling at the end of the game.
