Rafa Benitez is plotting a double swoop on Manchester City to kick-start his £100million revamp of Newcastle United after committing his future to the club.
The Spaniard held a meeting with Mike Ashley on Wednesday to map out a plan for the new campaign and was delighted to learn that Newcastle's owner will give him 'every last penny' to ensure their return to the Premier League does not fizzle out.
Benitez has been busy lining up targets since Newcastle won the Championship on Sunday and Sportsman understands that he has held discussions with Txiki Begiristain, Manchester City's Director of Football, over moves for Brazil midfielder Fernando and Eliaquim Mangala, the France defender.
