Newcastle have made no attempt to tie Matty Longstaff down to a new contract since he rejected their first offer, according to The Chronicle.
The midfielder, who came through the club's academy before breaking into the first team earlier this season, rejected the terms offered to him in January.
Longstaff, whose brother Sean is also yet to agree a new contract at St James' Park, is out of contract this summer and will be able to leave for free.
He currently earns a basic salary of just £850 a week, despite playing 12 times for the first team in all competitions this term.
