Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to make a late move for unsettled Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko after he was given permission to leave the France training camp, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC.
Sissoko, 27, impressed during Euro 2016 with France and has been linked with a return to the Premier League after Newcastle's relegation last season.
On Wednesday, France's official Twitter account revealed that Sissoko has been allowed to leave the rest of the squad to complete a transfer before deadline day -- although did not clarify which club he would join.
The player himself talked up a potential move to Real Madrid, but Tottenham have moved to the front of the queue to complete a deal in the region of £30 million -- though sources told ESPN FC that Spurs are hoping to persuade Newcastle to do business at a lower fee.
