Sports minister Nigel Huddleston has reluctantly agreed to find out what assurances the Premier League was given by the new owners of Newcastle United to confirm the Saudi state would not be involved in the running of the club
Toon were bought for £305M in October by a consortium dominated by the Saudi Public Investment Fund.
The Saudi PIF put up 80 per cent of the cash, with PCP Capital Partners, represented by Amanda Staveley, and RB Sports & Media making up the rest.
The deal was initially abandoned in the summer of 2020 when the group were unable to provide separation between themselves and the Saudi state, headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
