IAN HERBERT: Saudi human rights shame will ALWAYS hang over Newcastle... the plight of those who challenge the regime will rightly be raised every time they declare that they are an inclusive club

It is a long shot asking about Dina Ali Lasloom's whereabouts in the Al Dirah district of Riyadh but someone had mentioned a neighbourhood there and any lead is worth pursuing.

Her name elicits blank looks. Not a flicker of awareness among those going about their business that she is missing.

A Saudi national, Ms Lasloom was 24 in 2017 when she fled a forced marriage and sought asylum in Australia. She was intercepted in Manila by Filipino officials at the request of the Saudis when her plane stopped to refuel.

Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International criticised the Saudi takeover of Newcastle

Before she was taken away, she recorded a video with a borrowed phone saying she feared for her life if forcibly returned to Riyadh.
