Former Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has taken legal action against his old club - after they said they would no longer allow his Sports Direct empire to sell their replica shirts.
Ashley ran the club for 14 years, before finally selling up in acrimonious circumstances in 2021 to a consortium led by business woman Amanda Staveley backed by Saudi oil billions.
Now the 59 year old tycoon has gone to war against the club he once owned accusing them of unfairly cutting out Sports Direct in favour of their high street rivals JD Sports over the right to sell Newcastle shirt next season.
