A former Newcastle star missed out on making his debut for his new club due to being involved in a car crash.
Paul Dummett, who played for the Magpies between 2000 and 2024 after making his way through the club's academy, signed for League Two Carlisle this month under former team-mate Mike Williamson.
It was hoped that Dummett would be able to bring experience and quality to a side struggling in League Two, with the Cumbrians bottom of the Football League and at risk of dropping out of the top four divisions.
Williamson took over from Paul Simpson in September, leaving MK Dons, but has been unable to help the side's fortunes too much so far, with it hoped January reinforcements would benefit his side.
