Eddie Howe said he was at a loss to explain why Newcastle had failed to show their best version over two defeats against Dortmund that have left them on the brink of Champions League elimination.

The head coach admitted his team were simply ’not good enough’ during Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat in front of the famous ‘Yellow Wall’ here at Signal Iduna Park.
