Scores of Premier League footballers, who have tested positive for Covid-19, are now back in contention for selection during Christmas after ministers cut the period of isolation.
Health chiefs have today announced those with a positive Covid test can be released after seven days, rather than 10.
This means that any player who contracted the virus on December 17, will complete their quarantine on Christmas Eve, could train Christmas Day and be considered for the round of traditional Boxing Day fixtures.

ISOLATION CUT
New guidance allows people who have tested positive for Covid to self-isolate for seven days instead of 10.
