Jacob Murphy gave Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez a much-needed boost as he scored twice in a 4-0 victory over Bradford.
The recent signing from Norwich City grabbed his first two goals in a black and white shirt as he came off the bench in the second period to help his side to their second win in pre-season.
Dwight Gayle opened the scoring for the visitors just after the break, and Serbian international Aleksandar Mitrovic also got on the scoresheet whilst wearing the captain's armband after a raft of second-half changes.
The sight of Newcastle's frontline firing will be of some comfort to Benitez, who has made his concerns over a lack of attacking options known.
