New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman has said that he doesn't think the Yanks will make a major deal this summer, according to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News:
“I would predict it more likely not doing anything than doing something significant,” Cashman said. “We’re making our phone calls, talking to all clubs involved. We’ve practically analyzed everything.”
Cashman reiterated his belief in New York's current roster, and also warned that the “the acquisition costs might be prohibitive or that unicorn might not exist.”
While it has been rumored that the Yankees would like to upgrade their starting pitching staff, Cashman said they are extremely unlikely to add a top arm:
“Are there available starters that are better? Yes, but the acquisitions cost are certain players that I have no intention of moving at this stage,” Cashman said. “I would say the smarter play would be to hold off on shooting any of those particular bullets.”
