The New York Yankees have expressed a strong interest to acquire pitcher Tyler Clippard from the Oakland A's, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Clippard has been linked to the Yankees, Mets, and Nationals in recent reports. He has posted a 2.79 ERA, 8.8 K/9, and 4.9 BB/9 in his first season in Oakland to go along with 17 saves, although the Yankees would use him in a setup capacity.
Clippard was originally drafted by the Yankees in 2003 and made his big-league debut with the club in 2007 before spending the next seven years in the Nationals bullpen.
