The New York Yankees already made one blockbuster trade before the MLB Trade Deadline and they might just make another. The Yankees are reportedly still looking for first base help.
The New York Post reports the Yankees sent a scout to watch Darvish's latest start Friday against the Rays and the Yankees are interested in swinging a deal for the pitcher.
Darvish went eight innings against the Rays, allowing three runs, five hits and striking out 12 batters. Darvish has posted a 6-8 record with a 3.44 ERA and a 1.118 WHIP this year. However, because he'll be a free agent this year and lacks team control, he might not be expensive as someone like Sonny Gray. But if the Rangers do decide to shop Darvish, teams like the Cubs and Dodgers could be willing to offer more than the Yankees.

The Yankees are in need of pitching help, with Michael Pineda done for the year and then some. Jordan Montgomery has hit a rough pitch and Masahiro Tanaka is having a down year. The addition of Darvish (or another top-tier starter), would help the Yankees in their effort to close a 3.5 game on the Red Sox or maintain their lead in the AL Wild Card.
