The New York Yankees still want Sonny Gray of the Oakland Athletics, but they're also exploring the market of other starters. The Athletics' asking price for Gray is too high at the moment, which has led the Yankees to look at other starting options.
Jon Heyman of Fan Rag Sports reports the Yankees are looking at Yu Darvish of the Texas Rangers, Jaime Garcia of the Minnesota Twins and Lance Lynn of the St. Louis Cardinals. All three players are rentals. Another report, from the Miami Herald, connected the Yankees to Dan Straily.
Heyman reports the Rangers' asking price for Darvish is also too high for the Yankees. Lynn has pitched well of late, but the Cardinals have yet to decide if they want to sell and trade him. And then there's the curious case of Garcia. The Twins traded for him, but have since had second thoughts about their ability to contend and now could trade him.

Another interesting tidbit here is that Heyman reports teams expect Gray to be dealt before his next start on Sunday. If that's the case, a deal will need to happen soon.
