Yankees Interested In Yu Darvish
Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports the Yankees are seriously considering signing free-agent pitcher Yu Darvish. Much of the offseason for the Yankees has revolved around signing or trading for a starting pitcher. Darvish has also been rumored on landing with the Chicago Cubs or Houston Astros.
Darvish is 31-years-old coming off a season where he had a 3.86 ERA over 186.2 innings pitched.
Josh Harrison Headed To New York?
Pittsburgh Pirates second baseman Josh Harrison is drawing trade interest from the Yankees and Mets, according to Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
The 30-year-old is set to make $10.25 million in 2018 and his contract has club options for 2019 ($10.5 million) and 2020 ($11.5 million). Last season, Harrison batted .272 with a career-high 16 home runs in 128 games.
Yankees Trade Offers Rejected
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Bill Brink, the Yankees put together trade packages Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Chris Archer and Detroit Tigers pitcher Michael Fulmer. Both the Rays and Tigers declined the offer from New York.
Archer is under contract until 2019, with club options in 2020 and 2021. Last season, Archer went 10–12 with a 4.07 ERA in 201 innings pitched, racking up 249 strikeouts. After winning the 2016 AL Rookie of the Year in 2016, Fulmer went 10–12 with a 3.83 ERA over 164.2 innings pitched in 2017.
