Yankees Acquire Brandon Drury
On Tuesday the Yankees acquired starting infielder Brandon Drury from the Arizona Diamondbacks in a three-team trade.
The Yankees are trading second base prospect Nick Solak to the Tampa Bay Rays and right-handed pitching prospect Taylor Widener to the Diamondbacks. Tampa Bay will also send outfielder Steven Souza to Arizona.
The Yankees all offseason have been in pursuit of a middle infielder and it appears they have added depth and a likely starter with Drury. The signing of Drury allows Yankees prospect, Miguel Andujar, to get more experience in the minors. Drury can also play second base which will give the Yankees some flexibility in the infield, something they have been searching for all offseason.
Last season in 133 games he hit .267 with 13 home runs and 63 RBIs. The 25-year-old is under Yankees control through 2021 and made only $560K in 2017.
Yankees 2018 Projected Lineup
The Yankees are a little over a month away from their season opener on March 29th vs the Toronto Blue Jays, but with the recent trade for Drury, this has the Yankee fans excited to see what the lineup will look like according to Metro New York.
1. Brett Gardner- LF
2. Aaron Judge- RF
3. Giancarlo Stanton- DH
4. Gary Sanchez- C
5. Greg Bird- 1B
6. Didi Gregorius- SS
7. Aaron Hicks- CF
8. Brandon Drury- 3B
9. Gleyber Torres- 2B
You could argue the Yankees have one of the best lineups, if not the best lineup in all of baseball. The Yankees led the majors in home runs last season with 142 and added NL MVP Giancarlo Stanton this offseason to the mix who hit 59 home runs in 2017. Can you say Bronx Bombers?
Nick Swisher Is Hyped
One of the best personalities in baseball is former Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher. Now Swisher is a spring training instructor for New York and NJ Advanced Media sat down with Swisher on Tuesday to talk to him about the Yankees.
Let's just say he is really hyped for the season, bro.
Swisher was asked questions about Stanton, him being retired, his coaching future, and his personal thoughts of Yankees prospect Estevan Florial.
NJ Advanced Media asked Swisher why he looks so excited to be here?
"Just to honor, bro," said Swisher. "When you retire, there's a hole. I can be honest about that because I went through that." If you want to see the entire Swisher interview you won't be disappointed.
