The MLB hot stove is virtually non-existent as spring training approaches, but there are still plenty of rumors circulating around the New York Yankees as theyare still trying to make moves to help improve their roster before the start of the season. Here are all the latest MLB rumors you need to know:
Yankees place Castro on trade block
The Yankees have been trying to unload some salary all offseason, making Brett Gardner and Chase Headley available. Now, they have added Starlin Castro to that mix on the trade block, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
Meanwhile, the Yankees have been unable to deal (or even find interest) in Brett Gardner, Chase Headley or Starlin Castro, who they let some clubs know was available. To date, that has kept them from pushing fervently for a reliever.
In his first season with the Yankees this past year, Castro hit .270 with 21 homers and 70 RBIs in 151 games.
New York interested in Wood
The Yankees just signed slugger Chris Carter earlier this week, and another one may be on the way at some point. According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, New York has checked in on Travis Wood, indicating they are somewhat interested in signing him.
Yanks have checked in on travis wood, but don't necessarily seem at forefront of talks at moment.

Wood has spent virtually all of the past two years coming out of the bullpen as a reliever for the Chicago Cubs, but several teams want to sign him in a starting role. New York is one of those teams with no proven starters other than Masahiro Tanaka, C.C. Sabathia and Michael Pineda.
Wood posted a 2.95 ERA with 47 strikeouts in 61 innings pitched in 77 appearances last season. In his last full season as a starter in 2014, he went 8-13 with a 5.03 ERA.
