Yankees Rumors: Manny Machado Will Reportedly Be A Yankee By The Start Of Next Season
Domingo German Prominent Starting Pitcher Option
With all the rumors surrounding the Yankees pitching this season, pitcher Domingo German is trying to establish himself this spring as a reliable option. German did just that against the New York Mets on Wednesday allowing two unearned runs, while striking out five in 2 2/3 innings.
German would have finished his day with three scoreless innings if it wasn't for a bases-loaded dropped fly ball by Yankees outfielder Estevan Florial. German was especially spectacular in the second inning striking out the side.
New York has been looking for pitching depth all offseason and German is emerging as a potential candidate.
"As a team we want to have as much pitching as possible and you want to have a good showing so in the future in any way they need me I'm there to contribute," German said. "I'm here to give them some confidence in me."
German this spring has allowed only six hits, one earned run with 10 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.17 in his three appearances. Despite German's success he is still only depth for the Yankees starting rotation and will remain in the bullpen unless an injury occurs to one of the starters.
Gary Sanchez Is Manny Ramirez?
Much of the attention this offseason has been on outfielders Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge, yet they aren't the best hitters in the Yankees lineup. Well, this is according to Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia who knows a great hitter when he sees one with 17 major league seasons under his belt. On Wednesday, Sabathia matched up against teammate Masahiro Tanaka in a simulated scrimmage against the Yankees hitters.
“This is a tough lineup, man, top to bottom,’’ Sabathia said. “You know Giancarlo Stanton, I think Sanchez is probably the best hitter in the lineup and you don’t talk about him at all, so it’s a tough one.’’
That is high praise for the 25-year-old who is a career .283 hitter with 53 home runs and 132 RBIs in 177 games. Sabathia also went on to compare him to a possible Hall of Fame hitter.
“He has power to all fields,’’ Sabathia said. “He reminds me like a young Manny Ramirez. That’s enough said right there.’’
Ramirez played 19 seasons in the MLB, he was a nine-time Silver Slugger winner and a 12-time All-Star. Ramirez was a career .312 hitter with 555 home runs and 1,831 RBIs.

C.C. Sabathia Praises Yankees Pitching
Sabathia didn't stop the praise with just Sanchez and the Yankees hitters on Wednesday, he also expressed his confidence in New York's starting pitching.
“This is a good rotation, if we stay healthy I think we can be one of the best,’’ Sabathia said “It’s just a matter of us staying healthy. We’ve got the arms and talent to do it.’’
The Yankees rotation heading into the 2018 season is Luis Severino, Masahiro Tanaka, CC Sabathia, Sonny Gray, and Jordan Montgomery. A solid rotation from top to bottom with young talent that should help the Yankees achieve their World Series aspirations.
